He is also the co-founder and co-CEO of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, which is leveraging technology to help solve some of the world's toughest challenges - from eradicating disease, to improving education, to reforming the criminal justice system. Mark studied computer science at Harvard University before moving to Palo Alto, California in 2004. Zuckerberg made a $100-million donation to the Newark (New Jersey) school system when he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show: Episode dated 24 September 2010 (2010). Both New Jersey governor Chris Christie and Newark mayor Cory Booker were present during the announcement. When buying his Palo Alto home, he also bought the 4 surrounding homes to ensure maximum personal privacy, spending a reported $30M for the lot. Also owns two adjacent waterfront homes in Lake Tahoe, in Sierra Nevada ($59M) and properties in San Francisco and the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
